The water element guides milestones of growth, maturity and decline from puberty to menopause. Water controls your inner core and structure, your bones, and teeth. Water gives us the flexibility and fluidity for movement. The Kidney (Yin) and Bladder (Yang) organs are controlled by the Water Element.
Bladder controls your spine, your autonomic nervous system. The Kidneys are a very important organ because they are the root of both the yin and yang energies of the body. They store our essence (called Jing in TCM) which our parents gifted us at the moment of conception and contain the seat of our vitality. They imbue us with the desire to grow, flourish and age gracefully. Their virtue is wisdom and the emotion associated is fear/will. Kidneys hold the blueprint to ancestral energy. Gives you stamina and sexual vitality.
Water imbalance: Back problems, neck problems, central headaches, kidney issues, memory problems, loss of hair. Bones ached in the cold. Ability to handle cold, recurring ear infections, hearing problems, vertigo. Rings around your eyes, moments wear you are hit with unexplained fear or paranoia. When you crave salty chips. Do you feel sober, sunk into a dark mood, with memories surfacing from the depths?
Water takes the shape of whatever it contains, it flows, with a rhythm and cycle. It can be violent and inundating or serene and submissive. A sea journey, the fountain of youth.. Refreshing, reinvigorating.
Our blood and lymph flows in rivers through our body, secretions, sweat, tears, saliva, lactation, are all controlled by the oceans and reservoirs of energy in our body. Water cools the body and calms the nervous system, develops grace and greater range of motion, promotes deep relaxation and releases tension, stress, anxiety and fear.
Kidney Rules the winter... A time for self-recollection, a quiet pool of within our-self where our essence of self –identity resides.
Like a seed on the cold ground, Qi is dormant, waiting for the time to sprout once it has sufficient energy. Gather the strength of your ideas, develop and grown them with the Water Element
